Matthew Mariani Attorney

Matthew focuses his practice on medical malpractice and general liability defense litigation.  He has represented clients in front of the North Carolina Medical Board, North Carolina Board of Chiropractic Examiners, North Carolina Board of Nursing, North Carolina Board of Pharmacy, North Carolina Board of Dental Examiners and South Carolina Medical Board. Recently, Matthew and Randy Lee obtained a defense verdict for a urologist in a retained surgical instrument case. During his career, Matthew has been a part of trial teams in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Delaware. He has lectured on medical malpractice and the litigation process to health care providers at various conventions and continuing education seminars.  Matthew graduated from Campbell University School of Law magna cum laude, finishing sixth in his class.  He was a member of trial and moot court teams during his time in law school and was the coach of the Centennial Middle School mock trial team.  Matthew returned to Batten Lee after serving as a Law Clerk at the Firm during both summers of law school.  Prior to attending law school, he worked with the law firm Finger, Roemer, Brown & Mariani assisting with their criminal defense practice.  Matthew graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2009 where he was inducted into Omicron Delta Epsilon, an international economics honor society.  Matthew was also a member of the UNC soccer practice team.
